The world's largest manufacturer of farm machinery cashed in on rising demand for food and biofuels, with profits hitting $1.8 billion. Though the housing slump slowed sales of Deere's construction equipment, booming global demand for agriculture gear more than made up the difference. Sales in Brazil, Russia, India, and China nearly doubled.
