Cummins's U.S. sales of heavy-duty diesel engines hit a pothole in 2007. But overseas demand in construction, energy, and mining more than made up for it. International sales of its massive engines that power entire factories were robust, and a deal to provide diesel engines for Chinese transit authorities boosted the stock.
