2008 Mazda CX-9
Sticker price range: $29,400 - $34,655
The deal: 0% financing for up to 36 months or 1.9% for up to 60 months for qualified buyers.

Like most Japanese brands, Mazda isn't offering anything as gauche as cash rebates. But, for those with good credit histories, zero-percent financing is available. That could mean thousands of dollars in savings on something like the CX-9

Voted "Truck of the year" by the same panel of auto writers that picked the Chevy Malibu "Car of the year" this year, the Mazda CX-9 tests the limits of just how car-like a big SUV can be. It's driving performance has been compared, quite credibly, to that of a BMW sedan.

At the same time it seats seven and, while you might not want to traverse the Badlands in it, the CX-9 can take off through heavy snow and rocky unpaved roads.

Still, these are hard times for even the best of SUVs as customers have turned back to lower-riding cars.
