Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have finally picked a home — and it's not one that royal watchers saw coming.

In the months since their May wedding, fans of the of Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been speculating: Would they continue to live in the modest cottage where Harry proposed? Would they move inside the walls of Kensington Palace to make a home next door to Will and Kate? Would they build their life together in Adelaide Cottage, a rumored gift from the queen herself, or the Cotswolds abode they reportedly leased in May?

According to recent reports, the answer is none of the above.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will move to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate early next year as they prepare for the arrival of their first child," the pair's office said in a statement to PEOPLE and other outlets. The couple's official office, the statement continued, will remain at Kensington Palace when the duo relocates to the royal estate in Windsor in the new year.

So, what does Frogmore Cottage hold for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle? Here's what we know about the pair's future homestead.

It's a ways away from London

Maybe the city life isn't for Harry and Meghan. Their new place is a good 20 miles — or about a 45-minute drive — from their current digs on the grounds of Kensington Palace.

While the move might bring the couple further from Prince William and Kate, who live inside a 21-room apartment in Kensington Palace, Frogmore Cottage's location is a clear favorite of the pair. Prince Harry and Meghan's engagement photos were taken on the grounds, while their wedding reception took place at the nearby Frogmore House, the most notable building on the estate.

It's roomier than their current space

Royal watchers hoping for a floor plan or digital walkthrough to scrutinize will be disappointed to find that a blip on Google Maps, a photo of a wall and a couple seconds on Youtube comprise the majority of Frogmore Cottage's digital footprint.

Still, some details regarding the home have emerged since news of the move broke. The cottage has about five rooms, according to PEOPLE, though original reports pointed to ten. Either way, it's a big step up from Harry and Meghan's current abode at Nottingham Cottage, a one- or two- bedroom cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace.

It's not move-in ready

Harry and Meghan's plans may have leaked, but it will still be some time before the couple moves to Frogmore Cottage. The couple is slated to move into the Windsor home early next year, according to reports.

Why the wait? Renovation could be one reason. The home is currently divided into five separate units, PEOPLE reports, and requires renovation to transform the space into a single-family home.

While details surrounding the extent of the renovation are not known, speculation points to the addition of a gym, nursery and yoga studio.
